31 Days of Flashbacks: Train Trip West: Day #16

Friday, August 19, 2011
Bonus day in which we took a drive, took a hike, said good bye and gave Steve and Debbie back to Amtrak.

The last day we had Mom and Dad with us we decided to take them down to Watkins Glen (near where we thought we were going to be living for RMED). We wanted to have them see the town we'd be living in and possibly check out the RMED site and meet Glenn's future preceptor. We didn't get a chance to meet him or check out the site that day but we did have a fun time hiking through the gorge together, admiring God's handiwork.

Love these cuties!
We stopped and had lunch along the way
and walked back by the upper trail.
Do you see Steve and Glenn taking my picture??
Caleb and Grandma beat us.
That night we had to say good bye. There were lots of tears cried. It was so much fun getting to spend over 2 weeks with Grandma and Grandpa but it was so hard to say good-bye!

We took Steve and Debbie back to the Amtrak station for them to catch another train west. This time they were taking the northernmost Amtrak route back to Los Angeles to help fix up the boats out there with their ministry.
Thanks so much for an awesome time and some fabulous memories, Steve and Debbie. We couldn't have done it without you! I am so thankful for such a great mother-in-love and father-in-love!! God has truly blessed us with you!
